EAT THE FRAME catalogue
As the exhibition was developing, Michael Tedja wrote the fictitious story “Hosselen” (Hustle) (KIT Publishers, ISBN 978 90 6832 791 5). The main character is a young curator busy preparing an international exhibition. His path through life is marked by various twists and turns. The novel is written in facets. And just like a diamond, a brilliant which has 58 facets, the book is composed of 58 chapters, each telling a story about art and the art world in the Netherlands. By the end of the book, the young curator steps out of the framework of the story and so exits the fiction. The exhibition is being hosted by Nouvelles Images and the catalog of the exhibition is the final chapter of “Hosselen”. Eat the frame! is now a reality.
This catalogue is a co-publication by KIT Publishers and the new publishing house The DFI Publishers, established by Michael Tedja while writing the novel “Hosselen”. DFI Publishers offers a contemporary platform for exciting ideas from beyond our own national borders, producing remarkable images, crazy associations in stinging criticisms, stories and poems which it places in an intercultural context. The DFI is an imaginative framework. It places art in an international perspective. Parallels are drawn. It represents a way of thinking which, like a writhing snake, develops organically and naturally. A poetical view born of a multicultural spirit.
